A reproduction of the press used by William Blake was manufactured for the "William Blake Apprentice & Master" exhibition by the Ashmolean Museam in Oxford in 2014.
At the centre of the recreation of William Blake’s studio is a working replica eighteenth-century wooden copper plate rolling press of the kind that Blake used to print his illuminated books, separate plates and the monotypes known as the Large Colour Prints of 1795, as well as many of his commercial intaglio copper plates; basically the same type of press used to print engravings from the fifteenth through the eighteenth centuries. The press was constructed using original drawings from a 1745 publication.
